Kian walked aimlessly around the mall. This had to be the most boring day of his eighteen years of life. None of his friends were around, his brothers were out of town for a week and it was way too cold to do anything outside. He hated the cold with a passion, it was days like this he missed living in Ireland, there the wether was always the same. It was sunny for a while then it rained on and off all day, all year round.
He looked down and saw a pop can on the ground, he kicked it ahead and then as he reached it the second time he kicked it again. He wished it were soccer season. Not really thinking he kicked the can again but way to hard and he sent the can into the air. Before he had time to do anything about it the can hit some girl that was walking ahead of him.

Matison had been walking through the mall, hoping to find some more winter type clothes. She had packed lots of summer stuff, and not to many winter things. Not very smart seeing as it was winter. She made her way through boredly, stopping in a couple stores here and there.
As she made her way out of one store, with two bags of purchases, she got hit in the chest with a pop can. Dropping her bags in shock, her eyes widened and she prety much just stood there, surprised Her mouth hung open slightly. Regaining herself she picked up her bags, and looked up to see who had just hit her with a can.

Kian looked at the girl, also somewhat in shock that he had been dumb enough to kick anything that hard in a crowded shopping mall. Regaining his senses he ran over “Umm....Sorry” he said. “I didn’t mean to hit you with that I sware” he said. He couldn’t help himself but smile at his own dumb mistake. He bant down and picked up the can, he tossed it in a garbage can that was nearby. “Are you okay?” he asked. He knew it was a dumb question, it would be hard to actually hurt someone with a can but it seemed like a polite thing to ask. Not knowing what else to do he decided to introduce himself “Im Kian by the way” he said. He hoped she wouldn’t flip out or something.

Matison shook her head, as he came over. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine." She said. "Not a big deal." She shrugged and gave a small smile. It was a wonder why someone was kicking a can around, at the mall, where it could hit someone like it did her, but she let it slip.
"I'm Matison." She replied, tossing her head to get her hair out of her face, since her hands were full of shopping bags. She looked at him now that her hair was out of her face. He was pretty cute. She gave another smile. "You go to Matthew Hopkins?" She asked titling her head, her hair falling over her shoulder as she did.

He smiled, relieved that she wasn’t mad, although she probably thought he was a little weird for kicking stuff in the mall. “Nice to meet you Matison” he said. When he said her name his accent kicked in, for the most part he sounded American but he never could pronounce some words without sounding Irish, names gave him the most trouble. He watched her push her hair out of her face, she was pretty. He nodded when she asked about school “Ya, I do”. He looked at her for a second, she did look a bit familiar “I think iv seen you around school before” he said. “Just so you know I don’t usually go around kicking things at people” he said with a laugh, it was a bit funny even though he felt bad.

Matison smiled and laughtly lightly. "Well that's good to know." She said. As he spoke, she could hear his accent. It reminded her of how her Uncle, who was Irish, talked. She tired not to laugh thinking of her Uncle, cause then she would look like a creep who laughed for no reason at all. She wouldn't wanted to get that rep her first week of school here. "You might have seen me there." She said shrugging. "I just moved here and I've only been there for four days." She told him. "And I have no friends, so if you've seen me, I must have been alone." She laughed. Wow, why did she say that? Did she want people to know her as a social outcast?

He laughed, not at just with her. "I know how that feels. It sucks beeing the new kid....well i havn't been the new kid sence i was like 8 but as far as I remember it sucks. All the other little kids thought i was an aillian from mars or something because i talked funny" he said talking with a full Irish accent then laughed at himself. "Well if you need some one to show you around i'd be glad to. I prommis not to kick any more stuff at you" he said. He decided he better drop the hole kicking thing, better they both forgot about it.
Quickly changeing the subject he asked "So where did you move from?".

Matison laughed with him. He seemed like a nice person. Not at all like some of the guys back home, who were totally concided and cocky. But you never knew.. "Well." she said. "I've moved so many times in my life, it's hard to count." She laughed. "But reently, from Canada." She said, tugging a ther necklace. It was jsut a habbit, something she always did. Especailly when she talked to new people. "And it'd be great if you could show me around." She said with a smile.

Kian nodded when she explained that she had moved from Canada "Cool, never been there" he said. He just about froze to death during the winter in Salum, he couldn't imagine what living in Canada might be like in winter. "So what do you think of Salum so far?" he asked. Even though he hated the cold he did love living in Salum. He sat down on a bench that was close by when he reolised they were just standing in people's way.

Matison followed him as he sat down, and sat down on the other side of the bench. "It's really nice here." She said. "It's great place, but I miss home.." She shrugged. The rumors of it beeing Haunted had totatlly gotten past her, and she had no idea about them. She smiled at him, realzing she had been babling on about home. "What about you? How long have you lived here?"

“Iv been here sense I was eight years old. I only really miss Ireland during the winter, it’s not nearly this cold here” he explained. A thought came to him, she was new so she probably didn’t know about the haunting, it was one reason he found it so interesting in Salem. He loved ghost stories or anything creepy for that matter.
“So, have you heard any of the stories about the school yet?” he asked with some curiosity. “They’re pretty cool” he said. She would probably say no, much to his delight because then he would get to talk about it.

"Since you were eight? Wow, that's a long time." Mattie said with a smile. She had nver been in one place that long, so it seemed like ages for her. Well, even two years seemed like ages too her. "It's colder in Canada." She laughed.
"The school? No, I haven't. Why, what kinda stories are there?" She asked raising her perfectly plucked eyebrow in question. Stories? She hadn't heard any stories abou town, or the school, and had just assumed there wasn't any. And that was a good thing.

Kian nodded “Yeah I bet. Id probably freeze to death if I went there” he laughed. “Well apparently the school is haunted. Its named after this famous witch hunter and its supposed to be built on a witch burial ground from the 16th century. There’s a lot of stories about kids saying they saw ghosts and things. I don’t know if its true but its pretty cool. ” he explained. He had never seen anything at the school himself but he would have liked to. He wasn’t sure if she would find this at all interesting but ether way he liked seeing what other people thought about it.

Matison srunched up her nose. "Haunted?" She repeated. It's not that she didn't believe in ghosts. She did, and that was the problem. Things like that, totally weirded her out, even before her mom died. Shaking her head she groaned. "Thanks for telling me!" She teased playfully. "Now I won't be able to go to sleep at night!" She laughed. "So you haven't seen anything?" She asked, raiisng an eyebrow, and giving a smirk.

He laughed “Aw poor muffin. I didn’t mean to scare ya” he joked. He shook his head “Nah, not at school anyway” he shrugged “Unfortunately”. He actually would have loved to see a ghost, he wasn’t sure they existed but the idea was interesting. He had lost his mother also but if anything it had made him want to see a ghost even more.
